The puzzles weren't strong enough to make it a good puzzle game and the horror aspects weren't strong enough to make it a good horror game.
Ultimately, it felt like the game intentionally made things difficult by randomly spawning clues in rooms you werent in, frequently with no directions to point you to go look in that place.
And generally if a game is going to take that route the atmospheric aspect is great so revisiting these rooms doesn't feel like slow torture.
