Word: Fortune.
I think Magnus should find out more about king Haralt and his brother before deciding, but try to get his hands on the staff as well anyway.
Maybe the next episode should be about Magnus asking Faryn's lieutenant questions before deciding whether to stay.
Also, I noticed that the question about always winning either wars or battles is formulated incorrectly (it goes "Would you rather never lose a battle but never win a war, or never win a war but always win your battles?", which is the same thing).
Anyway, having to answer questions as both myself and Magnus was unlike previous games, and for me it was more interesting, trying to choose what I think is right without breaking the character too much.

That was so much fun to experience! Being tested not as myself but as a character I see fit. Quite a change of environment and I like this. I feel like playing with someone's fate. This world lacks of opportunities to try the "villain" role (even though it doesn't look like a true villain but it puts a difficult and fascinating one I must say).
Secret word: Fame
!!SPOILERS ALERT!!
I'll be short.
As for the furure plot... Oh... Let's see. Magnus is a great magician, highly intellected and capable of many things. He has a questionable morale (if we look through a common perspective) but he seems to be content with himself. That leads to conclusion that he doesn't matter about other's feelings and happiness. He is far more concerned about himself.
The final question is interesting indeed. At first it seems that it is about "betrayal" but deep inside Magnus is not worried about this kind of thing (he has just burned the man he resqued to ashes, lol). He doesn't have friends but he has some... partners or tools. So it's not a question about being loyal but a question about his own... freedom, I guess? Joining another king benefits him with fancier stuff and food I guess, and he can enjoy this but he won't lose his mind and do anything to aquire such a life. I think it would seem to him as a kind of a golden cage. I think we can expect that other king will be more aware and careful of Magnus. I think he would even try to dominate him in some way. Like, he WANTS him to be near as it seems Magnus is a good of use (especially judging by his expertice). But I think it's the king's mistake to think that he can use him every way he desire's. Magnus won't be blindly following the "paymet" the king could offer. He will help only if he want to, so it means he will help only if he sees it as a good thing to do. His benefits aren't material, but far more mental. The only obvious benefit for him is that new staff they have spoken of. So it's like exchanging his freedom for power (and it's questionable if he would able to use it as he wants).
So, we have: the uprising kingdom with a king who understands Magnus' motives and modus operandi and he makes careful decions; and another kingdom with a king who clearly does NOT understand how he should be dealing with Magnus. The way they tried to convince him was rude (they just got to his room at night), impulsive and based on the baseless assumption (or, I would rather say, on a not-wise one, not thoroughly thought of) of Magnus' character. Bad decision making. The only thing they could interest him in, is the staff. But! We aren't sure it does even exist. Not to mention the suspiciousness of everything that just happened.
Also being treated like some sort of a tool wouldn't be enjoyabla to Magnus. So, I think, he would prefer staying with the first king. In addition, he said it himself that a weak king is easier to manupilate and it sticked to my mind. Moreover, I think that this is something Magnus would prefer: to have a kingdom to rule but not being oblidge to serve his duties 24/7. It's better for him to have someone else to rule it out "officially" but under his direct control. This won't happen if he joins the second king.
So, my opinion is that Magnus stays with the king.
But there's more to it. He is obviously tempted by the opportunity to aquire such an artifact so his interest is piqued. But Magnus is not that foolish to believe everything so easily. His actions may include lying, acting, some phycological tricks etc (not to mention his actual powers). So, the first thing to do to "make" the decision (out loud, I mean) he would request some kind of approval in the first place. Like, he would want to see the staff with his own eyes and to test if this is really what it is supposed to be. So, somehow, he must to come up with a plan how to execute the "testing" service action. Then, I suppose (let's imagine that this is really the artifact that grants great power or something like that. I mean, if it has the value it is supposed to have), he would like to trick the other king to become the owner of the staff. I'm not sure how exactly but this would be definately his desire. Maybe this would include extreme violence or diplomatic battle or something else.
But then, it remains clear (in my opinion): he wants the staff AND he wants the authority the first king can provide. I'm not saying that Magnus feels something special towards the kingdom but that would be definately fascinating for him to have such experience. To rule over the whole kingdom and being able to do what he wants at the same time... Sounds reasonabe. And if he gets bored, he can just destroy the nation he rebuilt just for fun, haha. I think it's in his character after all. He doesn't seek for prosperity, he seeks for knowledge and entertainment.
And that concludes my short analysis. Hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed your story here.
P. S. Still stayng hyped for Chasing Demons.

This has been mentioned before , but i would also have to agree that Magnus is not entirely heartless , but he can do what he needs to do when the time calls for it

My secret word is Barbarian. Honestly, it seems worthwhile for Magnus to stay in the kingdom if only to gauge whether Haralt is actively deceiving the magician, or the nation as a whole, in one way or another; It's also important, in my opinion, to look into the circumstances in which the enemy kingdom has supposedly obtained the staff. Something is definitely fishy in there, keeping a low profile while gathering info to create a clear picture of where each of the parties stand will help determine the most beneficial course of actions.
