Does what it says on the tin: Gives you bunch of enemies to shoot in arena that keeps morphing and changing after every wave. There's also lots of different weapons, however I didn't get to try them all yet.
Good game for the "I am in mood for shooting things, but don't feel like going through a long storyline" -mood.
Couple teeny tiny critique things:
I would like to be able to see my mouse sensitivity as a number as well in the options.
I think the player should be able to look straight up 90 degrees, since there's flying enemies. But this might be just me.
Other than that, fun game for fun price!

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love this idea. An arena that evolves as you fight wave after wave is like a dream concept of mine. I've always loved survival modes, whether it was Firefight in Halo, Horde in Gears, Zombies in the first Black Ops game, and Demon Pit sets out to build upon this concept and deliver a new take on this addictive game mode.
And, well... It's not a bad first impression. The game can be fun. But there are areas I feel that are lacking.
There is controller support, and if you're planning to use one I would recommend you set your in-game GFX setting to Fast, as for some reason my controller felt overly sluggish otherwise. However, if you are planning to use keyboard, find another game, as the complete lack of customizable controls will make sure you can't turn your camera whatsoever.
Continuing with settings, there are sliders for FOV (though limited), Mouse Sensitivity, and Brightness, as well as Music and Sound Effects. Resolutions range from 1024 x 768 to 1920 x 1080, and there is multiple supported languages. But that's it, and it feels rather barebones. Again, customizable controls? The game is rather simple, but I still think they need to be implemented. Aim-assist should also be something I can toggle off.
As for how the game feels, the movement is fast as you would expect from an FPS inspired by the 90s. Don't expect to do any bunny hopping though, the jump in this game is more of a dodge than anything, you practically get no air control with it and covers length rather than height, meaning your time between jumps is quite noticeable, with the grapple feature almost making it obsolete as it covers distances far quicker, both on ground and in air.
Speaking of which, the grapple feature can carry momentum a bit too well in some cases, as you will often grapple to a point and go flying past it, completely missing an item, platform or leading you to fall into stage hazards of which are a pain to get out of thanks to either the jump or level design (looking at you Wave 13).
The weapon wheel in the game, while a neat idea, is a bit too large. It covers the entire screen, and overstays its welcome as weapons take too long to swap out. Your weapons should be switching in and out as you're going through the weapon wheel. This is only a problem for controller users, but still a problem. Fortunately, you can use numbered keys to instantly swap to the weapon you're looking for.
That's where the criticisms end, however. I still recommend this game as it IS a lot of fun once you get the hang of things.
Visually Demon Pit is very late 90s / early 2000s to the core, and chances are that's why you're here. So that's a good thing. The game has a very damning atmosphere, truly it feels like you've been plucked out of the crowd and thrown into a game of death to amuse unseen spectators. You, and the many other tortured souls you'll fight.
The music is similarly good, with industrial riffs mixed in with hellish sounds to make for combat music that is fitting for its vision.
I look forward to seeing the game grow and improve on its designs, as I see a lot of potential in it. I love what it has done, and what it's so close to achieving.

Simple, fast, fun.
I've been following this game since very early public prototypes and I witnessed how it evolved into a product. I did not hesitate buying it and my very first impressions are: Worth the time waiting, worth the money spent.
It's like Doom and Devil Daggers had some sexual tension and made this game. If you like DOOM but looking for replayability instead of a good satanic scenario and Devil Dagger's too dark for you, this game might be a good choice.
PS for Devs: You might consider investing a bit more time into UI. Just sayin'.

not implementing rebindable keys in a paid game is kinda cringle ngl
its a shame because the rest of the game is well made and good, the player controller is a little off and the map could've been smaller i guess

Good time killer, it's just an arena shooter so don't expect anything crazy. The mechanics are enjoyable, at least I think they are. Give it a try if it's on sale!

As stated in the description, you're in a single arena that changes itself to keep you on your toes. Walls, lazers, platforms, and lava come and go as you're bombarded by hordes of enemies.
For the most part, the weapons are satisfying to use. The projectiles from the plasma cannon curve around enemies when running around, and you're not supposed to stand still, especially when you finally get it, so it's hard to get a handle on. I personally just wish there was more ammo for all the weapons. Some enemies are just bullet sponges.. I've found myself left with just the pistol, which, thankfully, has unlimited ammo, but does very little damage.
The best thing about this game is the music, honestly. I listen to it while at work, although I wish I didn't have to personally go in and edit the tags for their album, artist, year, etc.
Overall, this is a good game.

Fun game in which you just survive as long as you can
As a reminder the arena itself is very small and changes gradually at multiple points in different ways to keep things more challenging
--But in the end this its just a retro fps or as its better defined as a BOOMER SHOOTER

I know the dev gets a lot of hate and I don't like to trash cheap games usually but this game is so fucking bad. the movement is terrible, the weapons and enemies are either ripped from devil daggers or feel incredibly lazy and uninspired. This game is steaming shit, don't bother.
and a note to devs everywhere: STOP FORCE CAPPING YOUR GAMES AT 60FPS

I didn't play for very long, but I didn't need to to know that this game isn't for me.
I'm a huge fan of retro classic shooters both old and new (Doom, Quake, Blood, Duke3D, Dusk, Amid Evil, Ion Fury, etc etc) and I applaud any game that also shares my love for the genre and aesthetic, but
If you want to play a singular arena wave shooter with a retro/horror/satanic aesthetic, you're better off playing Devil Daggers. Demon Pit takes the flying skulls from that game anyways.
- Demon Pit does not feel good to control, this is my largest gripe with this game. Sure it's fast, but there's a lot more that goes into classic shooter movement than just being fast.
There are huge inconsistencies with your movement; strafing left and right (just A and D) is instantaneous, but if you strafe while holding W then it's not instant and feels more like if Doom had ice physics. Running backwards is also much slower than going forward...which I feel is kind of bad for an arena wave shooter with flying Devil Dagger-esque skulls (and other enemies that chase you) where running backwards and shooting is your main defense.
Jumping is suuuper floaty and locks you into a direction, so no bunnyhopping or air-strafing as far as I could tell.
There is a grapple move, but it doesn't seem very useful for anything outside of escaping enemies and lasers or getting ontop of platforms with pickups. Maybe slowing down backwards movement is meant to encourage grappling more? But grappling isn't too useful or fun in combat to justify it I think. More control over your mid-air movement could possibly help make grappling feel better.
- Weapons are a bit bland, that'd be okay if they felt great, but they're only okay. I got up until the grenade launcher, and that weapon somehow felt exactly like the shotgun but with a weak explosion at the end. No real interest to try out the others after 4 meh weapons.
- When you take damage, it's very hard to notice it or even tell what hurt you (low FOV plays into the latter, speaking of)
- FOV can only go up to 75... really??
- Framerate isn't great. I can't tell for sure what the fps is because there's no counter or anything, but it doesn't feel like 60 to me, and it's definitely not the 144 that my monitor allows for and my 2080ti should be capable of. Even with graphics set to 'fast' it doesn't feel like I'm getting as much as I need for a frantic shooter like this.
- Options in general are limited (non rebindable controls for one), but I guess that's fine since it's a simple game.
I can't see myself coming back to this game, since it doesn't have very much of what I'm looking for in a retro boomer shooter. But if movement and framerate is improved, I'd recommend those interested give it a try. Until then though, no.
