The Lament of a Lifeless Star is a heart warming short novel about a buncha goofballs messing around and enjoying their lives at the end of the world. It may not be my favorite story, but I really enjoyed it any ways because the characters and their banter made it a joy to read. I really appreciate how many small seemingly insignificant details from the earlier parts of the novel all hold meaning throughout the story, and even get used as crucial plot points later on. The art style feels desolate yet vibrant which is a good parallel to the stories theme. I definitely loved the music in this novel as well especially the title screen track. The only issue I really have with this novel is that all the endings you can get through in game choices happen at the very end, which means that to even know which choices make a difference in what ending I was getting, I had to start from the first choice and skip through every time, rather than the more traditional style of the story changing based on what choices I made. That was not too big of a problem as the choices themselves felt like they had a clear difference in which character or such was being favored at least. Overall I really enjoyed this newest Taleshop novel and I am looking forward to more of their games/novels. Kyu
