Talk about one of the most BEAUTIFUL games on PC so far....playing in 4K and its breathtaking. The story so far is amazing. The gameplay is very smooth and have many unique ways to destroy your enemies. About 7 hours into it so far...will do a final review when finished.

Played the original, replayed as remaster. Overall, I'd recommend it. Pros: - Great story, 1 mission in particular with skyscraper rooftop holo conversation stuck in my brain and made me wanna replay the game. - Fun gameplay with lots of potential playstyles, though at some point you will likely brute force everything with the hard arrows on the standard banuuk bow. - Varied environments - Remaster specific QoL (that you need to manually enable) is autopickup of gatherables. This was a much needed change. Cons: - They changed Aloy's face to a fat hamster. I prefer the original model. - They gave Erend (a major male character) bright pink lipstick that looks hideous and sticks out in every single cutscene. This was uncalled for. - They tried to force in PSN accounts (now optional). Besides unnecessary and unwanted in single player games, the PSN overlay is a known source of frequent crashes. Overall, the game crashed and even bluescreened me a few times, but the Frozen Wilds region is more stable than the original.

First off I am a huge fan of this game. I've completed the original multiple times its my favorite game and I was so happy to get the remaster finally. Its beautiful, the new dialogue animations was very much needed. Sadly despite that I can't recommend this game with the controller bug going on. I'm playing on an LCD Steam Deck. I've tried fiddling with settings but haven't found a fix. Buttons will just randomly not respond to inputs. For me typically on menus and while trying to quickly grab resources mid-battle its gotten me killed. I looked it up and see others have also been experiencing this bug since 2024. Please please fix this its becoming so frustrating to play.

Its a good game, when it works. frame gen doesn't work at all. most of the time when I quit the game to desktop it freezes up immediately and doesn't actually get me to the desktop, wont let me turn it off via task manager either, have to literally restart my PC to fully quit the game most times.

A beautifully-rendered world, good game mechanics, great characters and voice acting for the leads. I like a lot of post-apocalyptic games, and this one feels better than most. It's not in-your-face post-apocalyptic. It's more subtle than that, and you are working to unravel the mystery of what went wrong a thousand years before your character came into the world.

Working well with ultrawide. I did see a couple graphical bugs out of the corner of my eye using dlss quality on a 4080 super like a flicker of a chunk of grass. The dlss frame gen allows you to cap at 85 fps and my pc is barely running with stunning detail and no stutters during the hot summer. I am enjoying a revisit to this game after picking up the remaster upgrade.

I would just get the original tbh, the graphics upgrade is nice but it introduces a whole bunch of issues and bugs where the original has none. Awesome game, would recommend to play but just get the original, runs better, more mods, and less issues.

I'm a huge fan of the Horizon series, having played both the original Zero Dawn and Forbidden West. With the Remaster I'm now on my third playthrough of Zero Dawn. While the original already looked good, it does show its age when compared with Forbidden West. So while not quite at the same level, the improvements that have been made for the Remaster definitely elevate an already fantastic game to even greater heights. I did experience some oddities here and there, most notably when it comes to sound balance, but I would nevertheless consider the Remaster the definitive version of the game. If you want to know more, this blog post explains in detail what improvements were made: https://blog.playstation.com/2024/10/17/horizon-zero-dawn-remastered-a-deep-dive-into-its-enhancements/ I also decided to use this opportunity to update my original review of the game, which can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/id/iOMelon/recommended/1151640/

Doesn't matter what settings I change, just crashes every 5-20 minutes. Putting a review here as warning for RTX 50 series owners, as I am assuming it's a driver problem (as there just seems to be every other driver release), and as I can get it running on my Steam Deck without crashing, but the performance isn't good enough to enjoy there. A nice visual upgrade from the Complete Edition, but not currently worth getting, as at least you can play the old one without crashes.

Something you can actually call a remaster (at least graphically), it is noticeable, and the dialogues now feel better than before since the characters feel a little bit more alive.
