I got shapez with Epic Games a few years back. When I saw there was a sequel in Early Access I had to get it. This game is better in absolutely every way. I haven't played other factory games before Shapez or Shapez 2. From what I gather this one is probably a lot easier than some other ones but I like that it has everything I need to know in the game (besides a good wires explanation, thank you comp sci degree). You don't need to look up fancy diagrams to know throughputs etc. in order to improve your factory's efficiency. There is no power to manage, shapes are infinite, no enemies. It's a chill factory game that lets you unleash your ADHD to focus on optimising throughput without worrying about everything else. I've 90+ hrs and I haven't touched anything aside from regular mode. If you're into factory games or never played them but enjoy optimization puzzles then this game is for YOU! Now excuse me, Hexagons are calling me

Shapez 2 is a fine factory game, as long as you're okay with most of your builds becoming useless once you complete the qouta system that this game uses. Since there are hundreds off thousands of different "shapez" once the vortex stops asking for a very certain kind the build you made for that shape becomes dead weight, and at the level I presume this game gets up too, spending 12 hours on a single factory making a very specific shape just to have to delete it after the vortex gets bored sounds like a goddamn nightmare, personally I stopped relatively soon after getting to the wider space platforms that arent the vortex one because I didnt want to deal with it. It is a fun game, but it becomes frustrating fast when you have to inevitably deconstruct your magnum opus because it makes a shape so complicated and specific that you will never need it again. For just ten dollars more you can get Factorio, which is a game you can easily spend hundreds of hours playing, and has some crazy overhaul mods. And even something like Satisfactory will get you way more mileage than this.

I love this game, this gets an 11/10 from me, who could've thought producing shapes could be so fun? I got this in my recommendations page and thought that the game looked cool, turns out, it is! This definitely is a HUGE step up from the original Shapez. I would tell everyone to at least try out this mine of fun!

I've been keeping an eye on this game for years, ever since I tried the demo of Shapez. The demo felt a bit grindy, but I was really hopeful for Shapez 2, thinking they’d learned from the first game and from other factory and automation games. I’ve had this on my wishlist for ages because it’s gotten a ton of positive reviews. If you check my playtime in games like Dyson Sphere Program and Factorio with over 1,000 hours, you'll see I was hoping Shapez 2 would deliver that same feeling of excitement while building. The upgrades in DSP and Factorio feel rewarding. They both nailed it during Early Access, and Factorio has been super responsive to its fans right through to release. I’m not so sure about DSP, though. Now, back to Shapez 2. I really love the graphics; they’re perfect—super zen and relaxing. I enjoyed every minute of it, especially how the puzzles just disappear into the void. But when I reached the max upgrades around mid-game, I lost motivation to keep playing and finish it. Some things felt off, like the mouse movements and controls didn’t feel natural. Scrolling on the upgrade page was way too slow and just felt weird. I hope the developers pay attention to their fans—not just the overly positive ones, but the ones who really want the best for the game because they’re the ones who will make it truly great. Wishing them the best for the 1.0 release. For me, though, it’s not quite ready yet.

Interesting take on the factory/automation genre. Resources and space to build are, for all practical purposes, infinite, and there are no outside threats to your factory. I feel like the player has to make up their own challenge. You can create an absolute mess of a factory, painstakingly crafting every single part and belting them inefficiently into the vortex and still “win” the game, or you can spend time building modular, scalable, and smart components that you can easily copy/paste around to speed up processes and create huge factories. The game runs quite nicely on my somewhat mediocre gaming rig. I never once experienced stutters or lag. I haven’t built a truly mega-sized factory yet, but I have built a fairly large one without any issues. Loading times are fast, and the game is quick to get into with a cup of coffee (my preferred way of playing). Trains — which are always my favorite part of any factory game — are functional but somewhat limited. This might be my own skill issue, but building huge, complex, and smart train networks does not seem possible here. Since stations have no names and trains can only be routed by color, you’ll need a large number of different rails and routes if you want to ship everything everywhere using trains. Still, it is satisfying to see a train deliver a full cargo of parts into the vortex. There are some things I wish they would change or fix. Wires are somewhat clunky, and I wish they wouldn’t take up space the way belts and pipes do. Pipes also have some weird restrictions, though I believe this was mentioned in a dev blog and may change in the future. Also, the “space pipes” are my least favorite feature — they look kind of dumb, essentially being belts that deliver blobs of liquid. I can’t comment on how long-lived this game will be compared to something like Factorio, but don’t let that scare you. If you like automation games, this one is a no-brainer.

I am not sure what I am missing with this game but it just feels like nothing I organize or design for the milestone shapes really matter when I have to continuously delete or move things for the expansion of requests. I did have this assumption I would be able to design my factories for milestone pieces in a way that could be expanded over time and pull them to areas that needed them (left in place for the most part), but it didn't feel that way when the platforms and space world aspect came into play. Everything I built is in the way or not needed at all for the next milestone. It's confusing. I dont want to have to rebuild so much, even with the copy/paste, it just feels like I am continuously playing this game 'wrong'. I don't know how to enjoy it and nothing is feeling satisfying seeing the factories built. I'm guess this game isn't for me. Felt relaxing to start but cant recommend it personally. Kind of a bummer.

Very big on factory and automation games and this is a wonderful addition. For a more chill, laid back, problem solving puzzle game that rewards efficiency, optimization, and blueprints, it checks many boxes for me. Its essentially what I wanted out of Factorio. A game that can be played on underpowered laptops yet look beautiful on your main gaming rig. No resource scarcity or depletion. No annoying buggers or hundreds of machines to learn and optimize. Game is more complex and has more depth than what it might seem if on the fence of buying. I think there's something here for all fans of the genre to enjoy.

Possibly the factory game I've had the most immediate interest in. I've only played to the painting milestone so far, but it's already hooked me. What I enjoy the most about this game over other factories is what it has in common with the first game: Procedural crafting in which you process shapes into whatever and there are multiple different ways to get the end goal, and a lack of significant limits. In games like word factori, you only have so much space to build, and in ones like factorio, you spend a lot of time dealing with limited resources. Of course, both of those are sort of limited by the platform limit, but you immediately get a very large one and the research system, which once again gets a great strength from the crafting system. Anyways, the other perspective on this game is its comparison to the original. Some people probably liked dealing with tunnels all the time, but the layer system, in my opinion, makes the game seriously more enjoyable. Shapez 2 is still in development and doesn't have mod support yet, however, there are many new interesting systems unique to the game that make up for this and spice up the gameplay over shapez 1 as well. I haven't dealt with pins or crystals yet, but they seem very interesting in and of themselves. However, from the get go after the "Tutorial Levels" dealing with grey shapes, you're allowed to make a new save with hexagonal shapes, completely changing things from the first game, and there's new machines like the swapper and half destroyer, as well as changes to prior buildings like the stacker (which now comes in a 1 tile, 2 level form or a bent one!). All in all, I'd certainly recommend this game to players of the first or fans of factory games in general, and it's probably gonna be even better in the full release.

Very relaxing factory game. Everything is stripped away. You're just designing new factories for increasingly complex shapes. And the logistics to move the parts. I played it on normal difficulty, and happy to have done so. - Music is good. I've listened to it for almost 50 hours and it was never annoying. - Quality of life is good. - Tutorials are good. Typically a two minutes read for a new machine. I haven't reached the end game yet, nor am I sure I will continue playing once I've finished all 10 levels. But it's been a blast so far :)
