Good, cheap Tower Defense that pushes the right buttons.

The basic framework of what might become a decent Tower Defense game, and there still seem to be updates, so bonus. The graphics are ugly, but that's not really an issue for me. The controls seem to work, and the sound is okay. There are a wide variety of monsters. The main varieties are flying, stealth and attackers which can damage your towers. In addition there are some with elemental shielding against certain attack types. There is a healer type, one who summons hounds, and one that turns into rats when killed. The top of the line monster however is a dragon, that flies wherever it wants, damages and destroys towers and is quite the challenge. Luckily he never seems to attack the base. Sadly the ground monsters can stand pretty much on top of each other, and quickly become the monster equivalent of a human centipede. They seem to clip on every bit of terrain and gun as well. The towers match the elemental defenses of course, there are slowing units and the basic gun and cannon. They do allow target selection, though I am not sure it works very well, as I selected 'special unit' when the medic monster was on the field, and that tower continued to shoot whichever one was first in line. There is also the option of a hero. There are three types listed, but you only get one on the board per level. I am still exploring their value. The towers can be upgraded, and the upgrades split into a variety sooner or later, mostly options like more damage, or more range, or faster rate of fire, nothing sophisticated. The heroes level up, and have an assortment of tactical options that can pick up as they do so. The first one has two at each level for you to chose from, as well as two guns. Upgrades get expensive fast though, to the point where I am not sure it isn't more cost-effective to have a bunch of the cheaper ones, if you have room for them. There is some pathing, but it isn't very clear what can and what cannot go where, so it is confusing at times. The fluff is perhaps the weakest part, no story, and while you can see the basics on each monster by clicking on them, it is lacking. It's cheap though, which is nice, and I am enjoying it. Easy to give a thumbs up.
